selling chocolates that are about to expire

My husband bought me a ps chocolate at the 7 eleven in Goodwood as really craved one.when he returned home one bite into it made me look at the best before date to find that we are on the 08|09 today and expiry date is the 23|09. It tasted terrible.felt upset how do u sell close to expiry dates at normal prices.He obviously would not want to drive back to take it.still have it.what a disappointment,waste of time and money.
