Filthy, dirty apartment on booking.com

We booked this place from the 23rd December 2019 to 01st Jan 2020 for our holiday with my family. Before we came, i read the reviews online, the place is rated 8.5 out of 10. This rating is wrong, it should be at least 3 out of 10. Some of the reviews i read, complained about the place being filthy and not having wifi - this was around July and the host responded that they are working to improve on those things - only to my horror, there place is still filthy and no wifi still. The place is as advertised on the website, but on the website - it is clean until you get to the apartment eeeeuuuuw - filthy as hell. We arrived on the 23rd Dec around 14:00 from Johannesburg and the apartment was not ready. We struggled with accessing the place, the host was not available and we were so tired having left Jo’burg around 5am to get to our destination so we can start our holiday. Finally after knocking, the cleaning lady opens the door and she could not be bothered with us. So she is mopping and washing the dishes (which she did not bother to dry) and after doing a few touch ups on the apartment, she leaves around 16:00. We finally have the place to ourselves. There is so much dust, spider webs on the corners of almost every room in the house. So i decide to just use a feather duster so that we can at least be able to sleep. This whole time no-one feels safe to use any of the plates that have been washed and left on the sink to dry (not sure who is expected to dry those dishes and pack them). Upon calling the host telling her how dirty the place is and that it was very unprofessional that when we arrived the apartment was not ready, and her response was that “we arrived early, check in time is 15:00”. Now that is non-sense, check in time was and is still 14:00 on their website and on booking.com. To cut the long story short, the host became so defensive and what actually dawned on me is that she is never ever going to take any of these reviews into consideration. People will continue to book this place under the impression that it is a super cool place to be with your loved ones, and only get disappointed once they get there. And by that time it is too late to do anything about it - and they have already paid for the lousy accommodation - btw it does not come cheap hey. It is ****** expensive.
