4 Ton Truck Centre - Disregard Guarantee

<p>We bought a UD35 with 177k on the odometer. We were given a 30 day guarantee on the Drive Train (Engine, Gearbox and Diff). We had not had the truck for more than 2 weeks and had done less than 1000km. The truck broke down belowing smoke in Roodepoort whilst on route for a delivery. After failed promises of having the vehicle fixed we had no choice but to tow it into the closest Nissan truck centre which happened to NWT Trucks in Roodepoort who gave us phenominal service. They ran an inspection for the truck breaking down and this was the outcome:</p> <p>1 Cause of the breakdown</p> <p> </p> <p>A compression test revealed that cylinder 2 produced no compression at all and cylinder 3 approximately 50% of norm.</p> <p>Removal of the cylinder head showed all 4 cylinders are badly scored and the top of piston 2 is badly corroded with suspected damage to the rings. This corrosion is the result of excessive diesel being injected into the cylinder chamber due to the diesel pump and injectors not correctly calibrated.</p> <p>There is no sign of overheating.</p> <p> </p> <p>2 Exhaust brake</p> <p> </p> <p>Inoperative. Unit requires service and replacement of the butterfly.</p> <p> </p> <p>3 Rear brakes</p> <p> </p> <p>Left. Trailing brake cylinder leaking large amount of brake fluid, top seal appears damaged.</p> <p> Top brake shoe excessively worn.</p> <p>Right. Trailing brake cylinder leaking large amount of brake fluid.</p> <p> Top brake shoe not worn-appears not to have worked.</p> <p> Brake shoes and complete inside drum saturated with brake fluid and grease. Ingress of</p> <p> grease caused by failure of hub seal.</p> <p> </p> <p>4 Miscellaneous</p> <p> </p> <p>Exhaust bracket broken.</p> <p>No antifreeze in radiator.</p> <p>Clutch heavy to depress-advise closer inspection.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>5 Other</p> <p> </p> <p>This vehicle is not roadworthy.</p> <p>You have stated that since taking ownership of the vehicle it has travelled less than 1000 kilometers.</p> <p>they saw no evidence of a proper service being effected just prior to hand over.</p> <p> </p> <p>Nathan Williams, the owner, refuses to speak to us or our attorneys on the matter. We have had to spend over R70000 on a new engine and now to find out it will also need a new clutch. My business has lost around in R300k in lost orders and attorneys fees due to the truck being in operative for the past 4 months.</p> <p> </p> <p>Thank you 4 Ton Trucks for the worst service I have ever received and I would warn everyone to stay away as they do not believe in customer service and their word means absolutely nothing.</p>
