Terrible Service with no acknowledgement

We recently moved from CPT to JHB for volunteer work and decided to Use 4 Cities Moving services to get our things up to JHB.

The delivery date was agreed on long in advance and confirmed 3 times with 4 Cities via email. The delivery date was important as we did not have sufficient clothing for extra days without our things.

Despite the confirmation of our delivery date, the delivery was late by 2 days, meaning we were without the bulk of our clothes, our fridge and other much needed items.

What is worse is the state our things were in when they arrived. The list of broken items include: • Slow cooker had one leg smashed in, despite being metal and wrapped and packaged in a plastic trunk container. • Pot lids were dented, glasses and cups smashed despite being wrapped thoroughly. • A model car that belonged to a family member who is now deceased was scratched and chipped despite being wrapped thoroughly in bubble wrap and placed securely in a box. • Our lamp that, thoroughly marked as fragile, was cracked in several places, even though it had been bubble wrapped. • We had big holes in the sides of our cardboard boxes from other objects breaking through by force, all of the boxes were marked as being fragile. • Our plastic trunk was cracked, which would have taken a large force to do. • Our food chopper was completely smashed and had to be thrown away.

The response I got from you was: Sorry, but your insurance only covers fire and overturning. This is disgusting. It is clear from the broken boxes that our things were not broken because of bad packing on our part but rather because the moving company treated our things carelessly. They broke things that, because of our volunteer work remuneration, we will not be able to replace. I am not at all satisfied with your answer, because the damage was due to negligence on your part (even if it was a third party company who did the move) and was not by accident, as a insurance claim would cover, and the fact that you accept that is a really bad reflection of your company.

I would like to be reimbursed for the items we lost. If not, I will warn as many people as possible (social media or otherwise) not to use your services because your company does not care about quality service and I genuinely feel that your service was one of the worst I've ever encountered.

If there is some sense of customer loyalty or just human empathy, please reconsider your decision.

Thanks.
