Do not visit 4 Callington Guest House if you want to feel peaceful and safe
Please note I am completely disgusted by the service on offer at 4 Callington Guest House. Please be informed that the photos uploaded to their Booking.com profile is completely misleading and misrepresenting of reality. I paid R1200 for two nights and walked away risking the loss of the full amount because the atmosphere was completely unwelcoming, in addition to the fact that the photos were not at all an accurate representation of reality. The guest house seem unprofessionally managed. I arrived to check in at 11h00 as per notification I gave which no one responded to. No one waited or seemed forthcoming to help, so I had to walk almost into the kitchen looking to be assisted. There I showed my booking and was told to wait half an hour. I waited and during that half an hour contemplated on the offering being a lie when looking at the reality, the balcony view that is not private or a real balcony and the area being questionable in terms of safety. I then eventually got pointed to the room by a lady who simply said "there's your room", no key handover, no welcome, no signing in. The bathroom was on a heightened platform, the bathroom floor not clean as expected, no mirror and no towels seen to be provided. I was so disgusted, I did not even want to talk any further. So I walked out and cancelled via Booking.com without any further word being spoken. I was completely silenced by the disgust I felt. It was an unsafe and unwelcoming feeling of wanting to run away. Not at all a place to feel safe and secure and rest overnight, meeting a friend I had not seen in a year. I have asked the guest house to refund me at least half so that I would be able to at least think them considerate but they ignored that up until now, just as they refused the full refund. I have decided to also post this feedback on HelloPeter to assist future guests with making decisions in line with truthful pictures and representations.
