CHRISTIAAN VAN DER WESTHUIZEN IS A *****. NOT ONLY DID HE COST US R280K, interim payments made to him for work he was supposed to do we literally had to get other contractors in to strip and redo all the work he had done as it was not done correctly nor to building regulations. Ultimately he cost us over R480k and literally put our family us into debt. DO NOT have a valid building contractor license. DO NOT have a valid electrical trade test certificate. NOT AN ITC SA Certificated Truss Fabricator nor installer. COMPANY VEHICLE not registered in his name. BUSINESS ADDRESS not registered in his name. Christiaan van der Westhuizen ignores phone calls, whatsup messages, emails, lawyers letters. Just did what he felt like doing and not according to the job spec despite numerous requests, emails, letters, phone calls, meetings. Garage build incorrectly and in the wrong place. Single garage door doesn’t fit a car! Walls short build, no wall plates, no plaster, no electricity, and more. Roof installation failed inspections and certificates, we had to rip the entire thing off and start again costing us an additional R100k. (Roof trusses installed incorrectly, roof trusses buckling and bowing (out of plane distortion), no steel strapping or galvanized steel wire installed, missing trusses, and more. I have photos. Plumbing incorrectly installed, had to rip everything out and start again. I have photos. Plastered walls were done incorrectly. Had to strip the plaster and start again. I have photos. DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME, ENERGY AND MONEY. We made a horrible mistake in employing CHRISTIAAN VAN DER WESTHUIZEN however nobody else should have to go through the hell we did. The immense stress, turmoil and financial implications Christiaan put our family through is not forgivable especially since the stress he put my husband under contributed to my husbands sudden death in March 2022.
