Oryx GT5 Purchase

I purchased an Oryx GT5 Linear Rail, *****crew machine from Sybrand Coetzee who is the owner of this company. I did quite a bit of research before hand, and asked some users on various facebook forums for reccomendations, as to which supppliers machines stood out. The amount of money that I was going to fork out up front made me nervous, and I was therefore very carefull with my choice. 3D CNC Africa stood out, and I made contact with them in May 2020. Sybrand called me to perform a needs analysis. It quickly became evident that I needed a larger scale machine than I was aiming for initially(GT3 vs GT5) for what I wanted to do. I decided on the GT5, and Sybrand forewarned me that during covid 19, some parts were difficult to come by, and that this could lengthen the 3 month delivery period. I gave the go ahead, and part availability proved to be quite an obstacle. I received my machine after waiting impatiently for +- 4 months. During this period I received frequent phonecalls from Sybrand advising me as to the status of my build, as well as problematic part availability progress. It was immediately evident, that I had bought a high quality machine capable if performing some incredible cuts, due to its rigidity. I have now used the machine for close to a year, and my honest assessment is that the GT5 is a beast. I have had one or two minor issues during this period, which 3D CNC Africa managed to sort out for me almost immediately. I have pushed the machine to what I believe its limits are, and they fall well within the scope of what you would require for a production machine. I can recommend the GT5, as I strongly believe its one of the top machines available in South Africa currently.
