Claim denied and Premium Escalations but value dep
I lost my phone at the park whilst out with my children. I out in a claim with MTN to only be told I am insured with 24 Hour Mobility, unhappy but nothing I can do now 3/4 years later.

I insured two cellphones with them when I took out the contracts with MTN using my 08399***** number. Now my claim was denied when I lost one of the devices and the reason is because I am told I insured a number and when I lost the phone it had a different number. Now NOBODY cared to mention that I was actually insuring a number instead of the device, the question I have is when I was upgrading why Wain't I told to have another to be insured but instead I am told I have another number attached to the cellphone that is not even mine according to MTN! I have since had upgrades subsequent to this blackberry and when I upgraded my 08399***** I got myself two pre paid numbers which I have been using with an old phone.

Secondly: Every year premium goes up but the value of the device goes down. Why does 24 Hour Mobility notifies me when the premium goes up but don't care to tell me that the original value does not stand. I think this is misleading and **************** from innocent clients.
Regards
Kgaog
I am sorry that you feel this way.
Your policy has 2 numbers listed as the insured numbers & neither of these were used in the handset at date of incident.
Please be advised that the policy wording states:
*It is important to note that the DEVICE is only covered whilst being used with the SIMCARD encoded with telephone number listed on your Schedule. The policy allows for up to 2 numbers to be listed on the schedule. You can change your cellphone number at any time but the DEVICE will only be covered if your broker, Pinnacle Marketing has been notified of the change
Several communications have being sent to the insured numbers on both your policies containing links to download a copy of your policy documentation - no further contact was made to our offices querying the insured numbers.
It is unfortunate that the value of the device can decrease over time, however we cannot be held accountable for decrease in value that occurs & it would remain the clients responsibility to ensure that they are correctly insured for the device.
Should you feel unfairly treated, you are welcome to contact the Short Term Insurance Ombudsman on ***
