CLAIM

My claim was rejected because we went to my mother's house for a party. It was not a friend or a stranger house it was MY MOTHERS house. I've put my phone and goods down on the kitchen counter (where all the other cell phones were) Do you have to take your handbag and stuff with you if you when go to the toilet or with you everywhere when you go to your parents' house? So how is this that my claim was rejected? I also want to say I am very disappointed in MTN, 24 Monitor and Pinnacle Marketing for taking almost 2 Months to sort out a claim. This claim was reported on the 19/9/2015 we are now on the 10/11/2015 Pathetic! You never waited on a payment for my phone insurance. My claim gets rejected for telling the truth. (Maybe I should have ****, I would have my phone by now) No one has phoned me to tell me that my claim was rejected! I had to phone you to see what is happening with the claim! There is no service giving to me and I have to pay for this? I feel you have treated this unfairly, and very poorly. I don't see way I have to pay for insurance for a phone I don't even have. You took the insurance money off my account for a phone I don't have. And now you don't want to refund

Hello Goggie23,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Please be advised that the policy wording does state:
EXCLUSIONS APPLICABLE TO ALL SECTIONS OF THE POLICY (What you are not covered for)
viii) Loss or damage arising from the MOBILE DEVICE where it is left unattended
in a public place, place of recreation, office, mall or social occasion where it
is vulnerable for easy removal or damage.

The party at your mother's house would fall under a social occasion and this peril is therefore excluded from the cover provided by the policy.

On the 08/07/2014 as well as the 04/09/2015 an sms was sent to your insured number and was successfully delivered. Both SMS's contained a link to the policy wording and the last sms mentioned the importance of fami****izing yourself with the cover of the policy.

We are sorry to hear that your handset was ******. We will not continue to debit you for cover you do not require and have cancelled the policy accordingly.

Please be advised that the claim form was first received in our office on the 29/10/2015 and subsequently declined on the same day.

Kind Regards

Megan Hope - Claims Manager
