Always an excuse....
My phone was ****** so i lodged a claim, I emailed the relevent documents to 24 hour mobilty, where I was passed off 2 the broker after being declined, the broker who clearly states does not have the authority 2 over turn the decision, so I am unsure why I am dealing with them when I went straight 2 my insurance. U say I am not covered if my phone was exposed in apublic place, i explain it was in no way exposed, now I am told that because my friends bag was also next to mine, it is exposed. that is utter *******. Where is not a public place and where is acceptable for a claim to be accepted if we cannot claim because our bag was next to a friends bag. Ur company are looking for excuses. How can u charge R89 a month for a R4000 - R5000 phone, this clearly shows that you will look for any excuse not to compensate your clients due to under charging on a phone. I pay my insurance every month without any hassle, with the conscience knowing that in this unfortunate country we live in, if something were to happen, I would be able to claim back. I safeguard my phone day in and day out, what is insurance for if they do not compensate you for a valid claim, instead pass you off to ombudsman!
Thank you for bringing our attention to the above matter.
Please be advised that your affidavit clearly states that the handbag was left under a table where 'all the hostesses placed their handbags'. Later in the affidavit it is advised that 'I went to get my black handbag but it was not there.'
The above clearly describes the exclusion stipulated by your underwriter who is bound by the terms of the policy.
You are not covered for:
ix) Loss or damage arising from the MOBILE DEVICE where it is left exposed in a public place, place of recreation, office, mall or social occasion where it is vulnerable for easy removal or damage.
Our facilitators have directed you to the short term insurance ombudsman as you have clearly stated that you disagree with the above reason for the declination of the claim. The underwriter is bound by the terms of the policy and have declined the claim. Only the short term insurance ombudsman has the authority to over turn the decision and this is the reason why we have continued to direct you to this course of action.
Kind Regards
