Shocking Con Artists - 50% Deposit always Requested & Paid - NO Idea about Aluminium Door & Window Repairs - Work NOT Done - Always Disappear Without a Trace
<p>I am writing to let all businesses out there know about my awful experience with 24/7 Aluminium Door And Window Repairs aka Door and Window Centre aka Door and Window Repairs aka The Door Guy aka Door and Window Doctors and possibly many more aliases. Jacques Erasmus and Sean (surname unknown) are absolute con men. They caught me for R750 (50% deposit), came out twice, fixed nothing, actually damaged the sliding aluminium window further, left a *****driver in the shaft of the window as well as sticks to hold the window up and said they had replaced parts (no parts were replaced AT ALL - unless you can call an old *****driver holding up the window a replaced part!). The window was completely jammed after they left (and previously it had managed to slide up and down, though with difficulty). Obviously, they never refunded the R750 despite numerous requests from me to do so. I afterwards (sadly) found terrible feedback about these chaps on Hello Peter and on Facebook (if you look up The Handyman Group/Door and Window Repair Centre/24/7 Aluminium Door and Window Repairs/ The Door Guy/The Door and Window Doctors on Hello Peter and type in the email address ********** into Facebook, you will see the reports. I do hope you will not be/have not been caught by these scoundrels. My caretaker at our holiday home said they were ruffians of the nth degree so I do not know how anybody lets them in their front door (I do not live in Cape Town so didn't have personal contact with Jacques and Sean). They are extremely devious as they don't have a website and use only cell phones, whose numbers change on a regular basis (they do, however, keep their same email address ********** They market themselves aggressively via bulk emails (lots of capital letters and big red headlines) which should be a signal that something is not quite kosher. However, despite this, I was tempted to employ them as there are few contractors available in the Cape Town area to service our aluminium windows and doors.</p> <p>In addition, when they visited to "fix" our bathroom window, they look the liberty of going around the whole house and then sent me a detailed email with photos and information about how almost every aluminium door and window in the house was in a bad state and needed to be repaired/replaced - all totally false in fact. Even our beautiful American shutters had to be thrown out (according to them) and replaced for a princely sum (and they are absolutely perfect - Taylors Blinds services them on a regular basis). The total cost for the "repairs" was approx. R15000 (excluding the American shutters) and, of course, they would have asked for a 50% deposit had I accepted the quote (and they would then have made off with the money). </p> <p>I had, in fact, asked for 2 recommendations before I gave this "company" the job. Unfortunately, both recommendations were reasonably ok (not shining examples - perhaps they were personal friends whose numbers I had been given - who knows?) and, as I was desperate for an aluminium contractor, I decided to give the job to these chaps.
