24 Hour Garage Doors - lack of expertise and after sales service
Please beware if using 24 Hour Garage Doors (Leslie Beukes). They come across as respectful and honest individuals but as soon as you require post installation assistance, that is the end of it. They will take all your calls and make a world of promises with no intention of keeping their word…I can honestly say they are the most convincing ***** that I have ever come across.
On the 24th of February they replaced by garage motor, spring and rollers. They were requested to provide a damage report, which they said they would do the next day. Two weeks and approximately 50 calls & hundreds of WhatsApp messages later and I still do not have a damage report. I even offered to go to their office to fetch the report to which they agreed to but then failed to provide an address. They have absolutely no after sales support, in fact after paying them you can bet that you will never see them again which means their 24 month guarantee isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.
In addition to the above, on the 1st of March I contacted the individual who conducted the installation (David) and explained that something appeared to be amiss with the springs, as my garage door was very heavy and it appeared that the motor was taking strain - he dismissed my concerns and said he would come back and take a look when he had the time. Since that time, I’ve never heard back from him. This experience is not out of line with their general lack of concern for aftercare service.
On the 7th of March, insurance assessors came out to review the work conducted and advised that the incorrect springs were used during installation as the garage door is very heavy when placed on manual operation i.e. an 11 year old child should be able to lift the door when it is placed on manual, yet an adult male currently struggles to open the door. I was instructed to obtain the opinion of another company immediately i.e. within 24 hours. An independent garage door company weighed my door (180 kg’s) and confirmed that the incorrect springs were installed (2 x 70 kg springs instead of 2 x 90kg springs) which will eventually result in the springs snapping and unnecessary load on the motor resulting in damage. Bolts are even jutting out the wall, due to the strain the springs are taking trying to lift the garage door.
When I wrote an email to Leslie on the 8th of March to rectify this error with the feedback from the insurance assessor and the report from the garage door company included, he simply sent me a WhatsApp screenshot reflecting that the 2 x 70kg springs were correct for my size door with no reference to the actual weight of my door. Anyone who can do simple math can calculate that 140 kg (2 x 70 kg) capacity springs are not enough to lift a 180 kg garage door. Due to their unwillingness to address the situation and provide me with a refund for the use of the incorrect springs, I now have to incur an additional cost of R2550 to rectify this error by using Mr Gate Mr Garage to install the correct springs. I also have no choice but to park outside, as I cannot use the garage door in its current state nor can I lift the garage door when it is placed on manual operation. Prior to their installation, I was able to open my garage door using just one hand during load shedding/ power outage.
Lastly, should you post a review on their Facebook business page (24 Hour Garage Doors), Leslie immediately starts intimidating you to remove your post. It has to come to a point where I’ve had to block his calls and messages on my phone. Dealing with this company has been the most scary experience of my life and I have never felt so **** to, taken advantage off or intimidated ever.
I am hopeful that this review will save another unsuspecting customer their money and sanity.
