Unauthorized Deductions from SASSA Pension Grant and Serious Compliance Concerns
I am lodging this complaint on behalf of my elderly aunt, a SASSA Old Age Grant recipient, who discovered that funds have been deducted from her bank account for a policy linked to 360 Administration and/or 1Life.
After visiting the SASSA office, she was advised that deductions have been going off her account. My aunt has never app**** for this policy, authorizing any debit order, providing consent for deductions, or receiving policy documentation.
This matter raises serious concerns regarding: The legality and validity of the alleged policy agreement. Whether proper consent was obtained before processing her personal information. How the debit order authorization was obtained and retained. Compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Compliance with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) requirements regarding the fair treatment of customers. Possible breaches of legislation designed to protect vulnerable consumers, including pensioners and grant recipients. Whether proper disclosure, record-keeping, and verification procedures were followed before deductions commenced. Whether my aunt's personal information may have been used without her informed knowledge and consent.
We formally request: A copy of the policy application. Copies of all signed mandates and debit order authorizations. Any voice recordings, electronic consent records, or verification records re**** upon when the policy was issued. Proof of compliance with POPIA and FSCA requirements. An urgent investigation into how this policy was activated. A full refund of all amounts deducted should it be established that proper authorization was not obtained.
