I took out a policy with 1life brokers on the 22nd October 2022, effective date was the 1st November 2022 as per the contract and the 1st payment went off on the 25 November 2022. They didnt receive payment in December, then they stopped debiting entirely. I called them again on the 22 March 2023 to have them reinstate the policy. I was advised of the 6 months waiting period. They started debiting from the 25th April 2023 consecutively till the latest premium 25th September 2023. I logged a claim with them on Friday 13th October 2023, received a call today that the claim was denied because I do not meet the 6 month waiting period clause, yet they received 6 premiums from me. Im heavily pregnant, dealing with my grandmother's death and now I need to fight with them to payout the claim. I fail to understand the 6 months waiting period when the policy was reinstated in March. The consultant Nombuso had no compassion whatsoever, she kept speaking over me and cutting me off as I was trying to get more clarity, as though Im suppose to accept their ridiculous decision and move on. This is utter bull because their contract clearly states that one needs to have had the cover for 6 months and have paid 6 premiums which I have done. They are telling me that they only start counting in May, what **** is that when I have taken the policy in March. I requested to speak to the manager Lesego and she advised that she will escalate however that person has gone home and will be available tomorrow morning. I suspect it was a delay tactic as they log out at 5 and we were on the call just before 5. Also requested the policy agreement for the latest reinstatement and they couldnt provide it. Im really heartbroken as we are supposed to have the funeral on Saturday, now I need to dance to these delay tactics. I am livid, disappointed and disgraced by this kind of service. I never got any hassles when I claimed at Capitec in August. Payout was made with 24 hours as per their adverts. 1life is just going aroud giving people false hope and dreams, through false advertising. Death is a very sensitive issue.
