TWO-TIMING 1LIFE
Good day, so in 2017 I took out a life policy with 1Life through a broker. In 2019 I took out two more policies through a telephone consultant who advised me not to cancel my pre-existing policy as I will loose all my monies. Fast forward to January 2020, my first policy which I took through a broker was automatically cancelled and when I inquire about that, I am told that I contravened some law. I ask the lady consultant who called me (Nhlanhla) to explain what she meant by that. She tells me that it is because of a reversal was done and the bank advised them that they can't get in through me account (since when? cos I know that if something like that should happen a customer is alerted (like how they always alert me with my other two policies whenever something is amiss). She says no they only sent out smses and again with the other two policies I get an sms, a phone call plus an email. So what was so different with this policy that I could not be alerted using all those mediums? This is just nonsensical. Now my money is gone because from the little knowledge I have, only when your policy lapses by three consecutive months is when it is automatically cancelled. Now how does it become cancelled by one month and to top it all off, I was not even alerted. She tells me they send me an sms yet they have my Home address and email? All I want is my 2 years premiums back cos I do not believe that I was at fault.
