Tricks to increase my Life Cover premium

I have had a Life Cover with 1 Life Insurance for a while now.

Today one of their consulted called me to review my policy. As a trusting customer i comp**** and answered some of the questions asked. In the end of what felt like a major **** to increase my monthly premiums, the consulted inquired if i ever smoked in the last 12 months. I said, i am not a smoker but have had a cigar once off sometime this year. From this, the consultant told me that my premiums will increase from from plus minus R450 to an excess of R600 with the same benefits.

Surely, surely, having a puff of a cigar once cannot increase my premiums so much. An important point here is that i am not a smoker.

To me this truly feels like a cheap trick to increase my premiums.
