Refusing to pay FUNERAL claim.
Dear 1Life Representative
I appreciate your response, but there seems to be a misunderstanding. My brother has passed away, and his funeral is scheduled for this Saturday.
As we spoke privately, you called me and promised to get back to us on Monday. However, the funeral is on Saturday, and we're still waiting to hear from you regarding the claim.
In light of this, I'd like to ask: what are we supposed to do now in regards to finances for the funeral? We were relying on the claim being processed in time.
I urge you to expedite the processing of my claim as soon as possible. Time is of the essence.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.
Sincerely, Mr Bw Mali / TI Mali (Simphiwe Innocent Mali)

Dear [1Life Representative],
I'm writing to follow up on the claim I submitted last week Friday. Despite the documents being sent in a timely manner, the claim remains unpaid.
The funeral was initially scheduled for Tuesday, but due to the lack of funds, it had to be postponed to this Saturday. It's unacceptable that 1Life has not prioritized this claim, leaving my family in a desperate situation.
This is not an inconvenience; it's torture. We're not just waiting for a payment; we're waiting to lay my brother to rest with dignity.
I demand that you take immediate action to process the claim and release the payment. Tomorrow is the funeral, and it's imperative that this matter is resolved.
Sincerely,
Mr Mali

Dear 1Life,
I am shocked and disappointed by the lack of urgency in resolving my claim. Despite communicating with me, the policyholder, you continue to promise resolution on Monday, when the funeral is actually scheduled for TOMORROW.
This is unacceptable. The delay is causing immense distress and financial hardship for my family. We urge you to take immediate action and resolve this claim TODAY.
Sincerely,
Mr Mali

10 Jan 2025, 15:00The policy was written on 09/10/2023 and commenced on 01/12/2023.
1. Premiums for January, February and March 2024 were not received, and the policy was cancelled on 20/03/2024 and the policy was reinstated effective 01/05/2024.
2. Premiums for May, July August and September 2024 were not received, and the policy was cancelled again on 30/08/2024. The policy was reinstated effective 01/10/2024.
3. Premiums for October, November and December 2024 were not received, and the policy was cancelled again on 26/11/2024. The policy was reinstated effective 01/01/2025.
Here's a polished version of your message:
Dear 1Life,
I have obtained proof that contradicts your claim of not receiving payments for October, November, and December. My bank statement clearly shows that you debited these payments, which were initially cancelled at the end of 2023 and then reinstated on January 1, 2024.
Despite this, you continued to debit payments for October, November, and December 2024. I have attached the bank statement as evidence, which confirms that these payments were indeed made.
I request that you urgently review this matter and correct your records. This evidence supports my claim, and I expect a prompt resolution.
Sincerely,
Mr Mali

10 Jan 2025, 15:20Dear 1Life,
I have a statement from the policyholder that clearly shows you were deducting premiums EVERY MONTH, contradicting your claims of non-payment.
If possible, I would have attached the statement here as evidence. Alternatively, I'm prepared to share it publicly on Hello Peter to demonstrate the discrepancies in your claims.
Sincerely,
Mr Mali

10 Jan 2025, 15:28Dear 1Life,
I'm referencing the audio recording you sent me, where a representative informed the policyholder that they would not be required to pay the missed premiums (May and August) if they reinstated the policy.
However, you're now citing these unpaid premiums as a reason for withholding the claim. This is inconsistent with your previous agreement.
I'd appreciate clarification on this matter, as it seems unfair to hold the policyholder accountable for payments that your representative explicitly waived.
Sincerely,
Mr Mali
