Refusal to give back contributions

I would like to enquire and report an incident I have encountered with 1Life for a life insurance policy I had with them which I took out on the July 2013 however I lost my job in January 2015. I emailed the service provider to advise I was surrendering the policy due to unemployment and after weeks of repeatedly resending they finally got incontact with me confirming that the policy has been cancelled however they are not liable to refund my contributions, I then emailed a complaint regarding the contributions refund which a Mr Mpho Molefe who advised he would first investigate my allegations that the consultant did not advise me, surrendering will not only forfeit my benefits but I lose my money that I loyally paid thus far, Mr Molefe was not interested in understanding that on the document the sent by email nothing stipulated that I will not be refunded if I cancel and did not feel it is his company responsibility to pre define that in the telephonic I had with their agent instead said I should has read the document that his system says it was sent to me which stipulated if I cancel I will get my contributions back, all he says I should have read the terms and conditions

Hello pupuun,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.
Based on the telephonic conversation you had with the sales consultant and the complaints consultant on a recorded line, this is what was discussed.
Mpho contacted you after listening to the sales recording and informed you that the sales consultant did not make mention of a refund upon cancellation of the policy since this is a life insurance policy. It was only the cooling-off-period refund that was discussed, if the policy is cancelled within 30 days of receiving your initial policy documents.
Please refer to page 6 of your policy documents, where it explains what type of product your life insurance policy is. The documents were sent to you via e-mail as per your request to the sales consultant
We do hope that details provided during the telephone conversation to resolve your complaint, has assisted in clarifying this matter.
Should you wish to discuss this matter further please contact our Resolutions Department on ***.

Your sincerely
