I received a letter from Wesbank on 30 Jan 2012 requesting proof of insurance or they will debit my account with a recurring premium of R345.37. The letter also states that they didn't receive any confirmation from me subsequent to a letter from them(can't respond to something you didn't get). I called the next morning to inform them that even before i took my car of the floor i gave my insurance details to the dealership, which told me they will pass on to the bank. which i suppose didn't happen. Hello landyw, Thank you for raising your concerns with WesBank affording us the opportunity to clarify the purpose of this initiative. Due to the economic downturn of recent times, a considerable number of WesBank's customers cancelled their comprehensive insurance policies due to affordability. WesBank, in conjunction with Hollard and Direct Axis, embarked on a large scale initiative to request confirmation from our customers that the financed vehicles are still comprehensively insured. The terms and conditions signed by all customers include the subject of insurance and basically outlines the fact that the vehicle under finance must be comprehensively insured at all times throughout the contract period and that the Bank can request confirmation of this insurance at any time. It also indicates that the customer would have 30 days in which to confirm this cover. By signing the terms and conditions, customers agree that WesBank is entitled to arrange insurance cover as deemed necessary to protect their financial interests. We will be in contact with you shortly to discuss further. Kind regards WesBank |
