I became due for my upgrade on a 2 year old iPhone contract at the beginning of February this year. Having heard reports about spotty availability, I put my name down at Cellucity V&A in early Jan. After phoning them on the 1st, and hearing that they were still waiting for stock, and had no idea as to lead times and availability, I then proceeded to phone around 20 various branches across the whole of Cape Town, including the official Vodacom outlet in Green Point, who had even less idea as to availability and lead times Considering that the store has huge banner advertising in-store promoting the iPhone 4S and it's associated deals, this is tantamount to false advertising, as clearly no Vodacom outlets in Cape Town currently have stock. Clearly it's not a supply issue, as all the MTN outlets have ample stock, as do the Joburg Vodacom stores. At this point, I don't see the point in staying with Vodacom, when I can port my number over to MTN who can actually give me the phone that I want. I have a pretty decent average monthly spend on my phone, but clearly this is unimportant to Vodacom who seems happy to lose customers to MTN because of bad stock issues and planning. |
