| HEADLINE | Cellphone reception please |

| I am writing this letter as a last resort. I have a guesthouse in Vereeniging. We have a four star rating from the South African Tourism Grading Counsel and a Superior rating from the AA. We have so many guests that love our guesthouse and love the service we provide but would unfortunately not return. We've recently had guests that booked for a week and checked out on the first night of their stay. The reason for this frustration is the lack of cell phone reception. I've contacted Vodacom when we first started and had the most amazing assistance and promises. In the three years since we've been fighting an endless battle to get some reception on our property. We also have a conference centre and it is so embarrassing to stand and hear people criticise our venue openly because they cannot make any calls or check their emails. We also do not have any 3G. I am willing to pay (within reason) for a reception booster or whatever it is called. I stay on the property and have no reception in my house. I cannot make any emergency calls if I need to. This is the same for my guests. We live so close to town but it feels like we are miles away from civilisation and its services. | |||

Utterly Disgusted:
Vodacom responded by saying that they are unable to assistat this point, but a site inspection was planned and that they will keep me updated within 90 days. My reception problem was not solved and I did not hear back from them (not even within 90 days). I still have clients checking into my guesthouse and then leaving without staying because there is no receptioin to make or receive calls. Marike |
