Almost 20 YEARS of loyalty = NOTHING

I am writing this on behalf of my father as he is not aware of HelloPeter.com(nor the number of other sites I am going to complain in).

He had become eligible for an upgrade during January 2012, and was offered a Samsung Galaxy S PLUS on his contract for free. He was also however, told that the prices would decrease on the 7th of February 2012. I accompanied him to the Menlyn branch today as I know my cellphones and what would be a good deal or not. This was just to make sure he was not going to get ripped off. How lucky I was there.

The representative explained to us that the offer my dad had received was a special for December and January and was not in effect anymore. He then said that my dad would have to pay an additional R1500 for a phone that 2 months prior, he would have got for free. This is absolutely ridiculous. How can he be expected to pay for technology that is nearly 1 year old(released July 2011 according to [URL Removed] How can he, after nearly 20 years of brand loyalty, be ripped off in such a manner? He is cancelling his contract tomorrow.

As a prospective CA, I remember being taught that for every 1 person that complains, there are an additional 10 unhappy

Utterly Disgusted: No contact was made whatsoever. My dad then tried to cancel his contract and they would not let him(even though it was 3 days away from being a calender month). It's amazing that when you start a new contract at Vodacom they get everything sorted immediately, but if you have to cancel it takes a month!??!?!?! PATHETIC.
