Free minutes disappear before agreed time?

I had a Vodacom contract which was cancelled and I was told that it will be switched to a pre-paid number @ midnight on 31/12/2011. I know that I had over 160 free minutes (off-peak) on the phone. Imagine my surprise when I wanted to use the phone on 31/12/2011, only to discover that there were no minutes left on the account? I called 111 and was soved frpom pillar to post until eventually someone told me that all free minutes were cancelled the night before... I paid for the contract until midnight 31/12/2011, and ONLY THEN, were any unused minutes supposed to cancelled / forfeited???

I feel robbed...Thanks Vodacom!!!!
