Blackberry

After I bought a Blackberry, to which part of the package was the so called "blackberry app world" I noticed that I cannot download Apps, as soon as I connect to the App world, the phone tells me I need to do a Identity Update, upon agreeing to do the update, it comes back with an error saying that the ID server is unreachable, I should try again later. Two months have now passed and still no access to the App world, and upon phoning vodacom, my SP, they unfortunately cannot do anything about it because the server is in the UK, and the technical team is working on it. How does it take two months to sort out a server? Why did vodacom sell me a Blackberry if they knew it is not working, rather that suggesting a different alternative!
