Cancel My Contracts PLEASE!!

In August 2011, I phoned Virgin Mobile to cancel the 2 contracts that I had not been using since Dec 2010. I was told I would have to pay an extra Handset fee since they were not at the end of the contract period. I received the outstanding amount from the Call Centre agent and paid the amount via EFT in September 2011. I no longer used the sim cards and stopped receiving monthly statements. I then received a call on the 27th January to inform me that I owe Virgin Mobile R1800 in outstanding fees. I explained to Katlego that I did not pay the fees as I cancelled the contracts. He told me that the cancellation was declined (WHAT?!). I told him that I was not informed that the cancellation was declined, but he insisted that I would have to pay the money and go through the cancellation process again. He eventually put down the phone without resolving the issue. I have since tried calling Virgin Mobile's head Office 6 times, kept on hold for close to 2 hours in total, transferred to countless people, telling the same story and no-one being helpful! I was also told that I was Blacklisted after the Jan 2012 call. This cannot be legal. I do not know what to do now
