I have received a dress as a gift from Truworths, I did not get any gift receipt with it. I tried to exchange the dress because it was not to my taste. The dress was still new with the tag on. But the staff refused to do anything about it because I did not have any proof of purchase. They even suggested that I call the person who gave me the gift to get the receipt, which I did not want to do because I don't want them to know that I did not like it. Anyway, i did not get the help that I was looking for and it's very disappointing. I am very happy though to see that I am not the first one complaining about this policy which is ridiculous and pushing a lot of customers away from shopping at Truworths. |

Hello Asmita, Thank you for your post and allowing us to respond. The Truworths returns policy states that we will gladly accept the return of merchandise provided that all the relevant requirements are met. One of these requirements is that the merchandise must be returned together with the original invoice. In the case of a gift being purchased, we encourage the purchaser to request a Gift Receipt to enable effortless exchange for the person who the gift is intended for. As mentioned in your post, you were unable to present the gift receipt or provide any information regarding the transaction and therefore we were unable to locate our copy of the invoice. Should you receive any information that will enable us to locate our copy of the invoice; we encourage you to return to the store for further assistance.
