Topmed came out with a new ruling that they will only dispense chronic medication via one of their designated service providers, otherwise members must cough up 30% of the cost of chronic medication themselves. They didn't do this at the beginning of the year with any warning to members so they could change their medical aid scheme, no, they did this well into the year, effective start date 1 August. Topmed favour Clicks and Direct Medicines as designated service providers, both of whom make my right hand go into strangle mode. So I asked my own preferred provider Oval Pharmacy to apply to Topmed to become a designated service provider. There is no rule forbidding them to do so, but .... There are lots of "buts" with Topmed. Oval Pharmacy have now twice applied to Topmed, and twice turned down. No reason given. They have been told to reapply in January next year. They will most likely again be turned down again in January, with no reason given. Topmed, what is your case? Why so arrogant? |
