Me and my wife stayed in the Palace of the Lost City over the weekend of the 19th of November 2011 for my company's year end function. When returning to our room early in the morning of the 20th at about 00:15 we got stuck in the elevator on the 9th floor. The elevator indicated we were on the 9th floor but the doors didn't want to open up. We rang the emergency bell and we also tried the emergency intercom system. Neither were answered. We then phoned a family member who was also there who then went and called someone. We were stuck for almost 20 minutes in an elevator that had no fan or aircon going. Both me and my wife are not fond of small enclosures like that. Eventually security / maintenance came and pressed the buttons which then enabled the elevator to move one floor down where we got out. I went to notify reception that we are free but only the cleaners were in the lobby. The next morning two of my colleagues also got stuck. Those elevators are not save and should NOT be operating. For the rest of the evening and day me and my wife didn't use the elevators and I'm not sure if we will ever feel safe in an elevator from now on!!! |
