THE INCIDENT

SAA truely live DOWN to their reputation. I left SA via Johannesburg airport two days ago. We had two suitcases which were overwieght by 8 kilo's. We knew we might be overwieght as we were leaving the country, but what I was not expecting was the incredible level of arrogance and laziness from SAA ticket sales and check in staff. We waited in a queue for 45 minutes as they would not open the excess baggage counter. We eventually paid and then when we checked in at the check in desk it only read that we were four kg's overweight. When we queired this the SAA representative was not interested saying that the check in desk scales were wrong (how convinient). BUt, the thing that really got me was the rudeness of the check in person. SHe did not even look at us, there was not ONE SINGLE security question (nothing about whether we packed our bags ourselves, were we carrying anything absolutely nothing) she did not speak to us or even look up, when she put the tickets on the counter, we remained waiting expecting her to say check in time and the usual thing. But that is obviously no longer part of the SAA service!! SAA ground staff your work ethic is an embarrassement to your company!
