| I went to Shoprite on the 20/01/2012 to buy the Ultra mel dessert (caramel flavour), not noticing the expiry date. When I opened it on Saturday 21/01/2012, I noticed that it looked and smelled kind of funny, so I checked the expiry date which was 17/01/2012. Yes, I agree it was my fault that I should have checked the expiry date before purchasing the dessert but surely this stock should have been taken from the shelf on 16/01/2012 already. My husband took it back yesterday and they refunded our money but my complaint is that the shelves of dairy products should be checked daily and expired stock should be removed and replenished with new stock. If this isn't being done, this could seriously affect peoples health, not everybody checks their expiry dates on the dairy goods that they buy. And if someone eats the product and becomes ill, then Shoprite can be held liable for selling expired stock and also could be sued for food poisoning etc. | |||
