| HEADLINE | SARS taking their time! |

| As all South-African citizens do every year, I promptly filled my tax return on time and sent it through to SARS via E-Filing. My return was done and lucky enough I got something back. To my surprise they never even looked at the medical bills that the medical aid did not pay for which was paid by myself in cash which came to about R60 000 - R70 000. When I contacted them about it they said that it was rejected. When then appealed and they asked for supporting documents. We then had the tedious job of scanning all the doctors' bills and payments in order for us to mail it to SARS. After we sent it we did a follow up on whether they received it and they confirmed that they did which was on 1 July 2011. They told me that it would take 60 working days to follow up on my return. After the period expired I contacted them and the answer I got is that the issue wasn't resolved yet and that they would escalate the issue, which would take a further 21 work days to resolve. After that we did it again and again and again, and to date they have done 4x escalations on the issue with no response and the problem is still not resolved. To my knowledge they owe me R12 000 and no answer yet! | |||
