1. Relocated to a small town, being the only one with computer experience I was 'volunteered' to assist with a general store's tax e-filing registration. 2. We followed all the steps, even received an e-mail from SARS acknowledging our registration on 5/12/2011. After that nothing. 3. Owner of business now wishes to PAY in vat, only they no longer supply the forms. 4. Phoned call centre number, they refused to speak to me because I was not registered owner, even though I explained that the owner was 82, hard of hearing and easily confused. Even worse was told if I'd done the process right in the first place I wouldn't be having this problem!! 5. Then phoned the SARS monitoring service who also refused to entertain my call because I was "not identified," even though she could read the reference number on her side! 6. Will now have to go 70+kms in person to pay the taxman... |
