What a surprice when my bank informed me about a so called "trace alert" added to my ITC profile during November 2011!!! After further enquiries this was done by a so called attorney firm acting on behalf of the SABC. When my TV set broke down in 1997/8 I informed the SABC that I did not own a TV set anymore. They instructed me to forward a fax to their accounts Dept, which I did. From 2001 I was staying with my parents, who also owed a television set. I did not have any need to buy a TV set. When my wife and I got married in 2004, we also bought our first TV set together, with her taking out the TV License. UP UNTILL NOW SHE HAS BEEN PAYING THE TV LICENSE EVERY YEAR! Now I am informed, 14 years later, that I must pay an amount of R 5 600-00 that is in arrears since 1998! All of a sudden they were not able to trace me since I moved to different cities. Why does it take them 14 years???? I now need to give them spesific dates of when I informed them about the cancellation, when the TV set broke down, What happened to the TV set etc. etc....!!! What a joke! I knew they were having financial difficulites. I never realized they were sooo desperate! See you in court SABC! |
