Claims not paid for 6 weeks

A claim was sent through for a medical visit on the 28th of December. Around the 19th of Jan I called to confirm that this had been received as I had not heard anything regarding the claim.
I was informed that the claim had missed the first pay run, however it would be processed and paid during the next run.

Today i called again - and it seems that "I have missed the pay run, and the claim will be processed on the next run" on the 10th of Feb.

Firstly - is there only 1 pay run every 2 weeks?
Secondly - how can it take 6 weeks to process a claim?
