| HEADLINE | DISAPPOINTING SAA PASSENGER REWARD PROGRAMMES |
||
| A heads-up to those (disabled) passengers (DP) flying SAA: please be prepared for a disappointing service. Especially if you request seating next to a passenger who helps you during the flight. We flew on SAA to HK in Aug 2011 and had various problems (re the DP's situation) during our trip. When we raised these issues with the company on our return to SA we were informed to "register as assisted passenger" (the DP) and also to both register for (Voyager) miles. These were to ensure that, for future travels, the DP's requirements, needed for correct reservations, were on the system, and also to make it possible to obtain better seat allocation. We registered for both in Aug. It's now Jan 2012 and we still await confirmation from SAA regarding the "assisted passenger" registration. We are flying to Vienna on 20/01/12 and have been trying, on a daily basis and unsuccessfully, to use our miles to ensure seats next to each other so that I can assist my disabled friend. From SAA's side it's not: "yes, we'll help you and make your trip an enjoyable one" but rather "no you can't use the miles...BUT you have to use them before end of March or lose them". SAA programmes are for "show" only. | |||
