Good Morning I hope this email finds you well. We as Sony staff members working at RNA were shocked to be told 31 of January that its our last day without being given notice prior to that. We feel that was very unprofessional and we were badly treated We feel that we were unfairly treated as we all are worked very hard and honestly for the company. Being told on the last day that we no longer have jobs came as a major shock to all of us. We feel that proper process and procedure was not followed. We were never given notice or consulted regarding this. This doesn't affect as only us but our families too. We feel that other option and avenues we not considered such as : 1. To cut working hours 2. Give us flexi time 3. Rotation of staff We were further shocked to learn that RNA has hired other 17 workers to our jobs. We worked long hours and sacrificed our weekends to make sure that the warehouse is functioning properly. This was really unfair labour practice as all our hard work and commitment was thrown in our faces. We appealing to the SONY management to intervene as we are also looking at going to CCMA or COSATU even we are non union members. |

Hello Sekudu, Due to operational requirements, RNA Entertainment unfortunately had to close down part of its operation. This resulted in us not being able to retain employees whose fixed-term contracts expired on 2012/01/31. In all of the affected employees' fixed-term contracts it was stated that their contracts would expire on 2012/01/31. Furthermore, in these contracts it was stated that there must not be any expectation of further appointment on expiration thereof. The writer incorrectly states that 17 workers were hired to do "their" jobs. This is not at all true, as these positions were made redundant, and have not been, nor will they be filled. Further, the employees were requested to leave contact no's where they could be contacted, as should any suitable positions become available within any of the other departments of RNA Distribution, they would be contacted and invited to apply for these positions. In the letters that were given to the employees which explained that their fixed-term contracts could not be extended, I included my tel no and invited any queries in this regard, however, none of the affected employees contacted me to raise their concerns. Kind regards, Carol Horn HR |
