| HEADLINE | Manufacturing defect on Mercedes Benz Part |
||
| Upon servicing my vehicle with NMI Old Fort KZN this past week, I had reported to the service Advisor that the chromed centre caps on the Mercedes Benz MB alloys is beginning to peel off the plastic base. The advisor informed that they will take pic's and forward to MB South Africa for approval to replace the same. I received a call yesterday by the advisor to inform that in spite of this being a manufacture default on the part of MB S.A., they will not be liable for the default, as the vehicle as past the two year period ( whilst car is only doing 30 000km's), therefore no warranty on the defective part, however in saying this, the service advisor informed that they (dealership) was prepared to install the wheel caps at no charge, as long as I pay R600 for the replacement of the defective part. Maybe I was spoilt being a previous BMW owner, as BMW covers entirety of their vehicles for a full 5 year period, I really had peace of mind with BMW's motor plan, actually considering going back to BMW after this experience, as I change my vehicles every 3 years, can't believe this from MB S.A. and find it unacceptable that MB would actually want their customer to pay for their defect. | |||
