Medihelp reneges on agreement to pay Dr Account

On 25/05/2010, my wife had a procedure done by Dr Coleman a specialist. Prior to visiting the Dr, as per my Medical plan requirements I was required to contact Medihelp to obtain authorisation for the procedure which I did. After I received the telephonic confirmation that all was in order my wife underwent the procedure. The Dr charged private rates so I had to pay R 160 in cash the rest would be claimed from the medical aid. A few months later I received a bill from Dr Coleman and I contacted Medihelp to find out out what was going on and was advised that the account was paid. Some time later I was contacted again by the accounts person at Dr Coleman to say that the account was still outstanding. I then called Medihelp and spoke to a call centre agent who confirmed that Medihelp would pay the bill. Today, I was hand delivered a letter from attorneys advising that they will be taking judgement against me, for (wait for it......) a whopping R 293.84. I am livid at the absolute lack of integrity from Medihelp in resolving this after I followed the appropriate procedures to obtain authorisation. Medihelp, please honour your commitment, keep your promises/word and settle the account!

Thank you for writing to us. Medihelp would like to offer its sincerest apology for the manner in which your enquiry was handled and for any inconvenience or frustration caused as a result thereof. Your complaint was however referred to our client service department for investigation and a consultant will contact you in this regard.

Hello Clive Vee,

Medihelp attempted to contact you telephonically on numerous occasions but without any success. However, as telephonically discussed on 18 January 2012, Medihelp liaised with Prime Cure in respect of the services rendered by Dr Coleman on 25 May 2010. Prime Cure confirmed that the said services were already paid to Dr Coleman on 1 July 2011 and that Dr Coleman was provided with a remittance notification, confirming this payment. Louise from Dr Coleman's rooms also confirmed on 18 January 2012, that they are in possession of the remittance notification, but was unable during our telephone conversation to confirm whether the said payment reflected on their system.
