| What I can't understand is what the reasoning is behind it all, I mean, just becoause you earn more you have to contribute more; it's not like we're receiving better service that the bloke contributing LESS - we all receive the same non existent service, I just feel worst about mine becuase I contribute more... | |||

Hello shadel, As telephonically discussed on 26 January 2012, Medihelp confirmed that according to the stipulations of the Medical Schemes Act,1998 (Act No 131 of 1998), medical schemes can determine the contributions on the basis of income, or the number of dependants, or both the income and the number of dependants. The Necesse benefit option was introduced as part of Medihelp's benefit option range to enable people in lower income categories to gain access to quality private healthcare at an affordable price. The healthcare services covered by this option are predominantly provided by a network of providers. It is therefore necessary to implement income based subscription tables to protect this principle, as is the case with low income benefit options of other medical schemes. Kind regards Medihelp Customer Care |
