Pathetic/incompetent employees and ******!

In June I took out medical cover with Medihelp thinking they sound like a legit company, after 20 days I decided to look up the company and noticed all the complaints against them, I then sent them a letter on the 21th June to cancel my policy with them, 5 days later I receive an email back informing me that I have to fill in a form, So i did and mail it back again, a month after they are threatening me that I am in arrears and they are going to list me on ITC, this after I explain to their staff the situation, they don't even bother to call you back and inform you of the situation. This is the most pathetic company I have ever came across. If they do list me on ITC I will sue the company with all the involved employees!!!! I cancelled the stupid policy within the required period per the Customer consumer act, and now I am being harassed by email and sms!

As explained to you telephonically subscription for membership is paid retroactively, which means you don't pay monthly subscriptions in advance but at the end of each month. Your membership was terminated with effect from 1 July 2011, which means that your subscription for June 2011 was still payable at the end of June 2011.

Medihelp does not claim to be above the consumer rights act, but you will agree that the Scheme has to abide by the Medical Schemes Act, 1998 (Act No 131 of 1998) under which the Scheme and its rules are registered. These rules determined the explanation in the first paragraph.

Not Impressed: I still don't feel this is legal nor very professional, I haven't received any documents, haven't received any cards nor any proper service afterwards. I feel I was in my right to cancel the service due to the lack of service. Joined 1 June, cancellation was done 19 June.

They phoned me and claimed they are above the consumer rights act, I will confirm that first with my lawyer. And they also claimed I should have read the fine print! Disappointing.
