iGrow: Normal Wear and Tear Turned Into Thousands in Deductions
7 weeks after vacating an iGrow-managed property, we are still waiting for our deposit refund (when the promised timing is 7 days). Instead of receiving a proper reconciliation, we've been passed between departments with no one willing to take ownership of the matter.
Our main concern is that the outgoing inspection report records only marks and smudges consistent with normal wear and tear, yet iGrow is attempting to charge us thousands of rand for wall repairs and repainting that would consume the majority of our deposit. The inspection report does not identify damaged walls requiring repair, and the ingoing and outgoing inspection photographs show the walls to be substantially in the same condition.
To make matters worse, iGrow issued a deposit refund form before the deductions were even finalized. Despite repeatedly disputing the charges and requesting clarification, no one has provided a proper explanation or updated reconciliation. iGrow associates simply refer us elsewhere rather than addressing the concerns.
Seven weeks later, we are still chasing answers, still waiting for our money and still being passed from one person to another. If you're looking for a rental company that takes accountability and resolves issues efficiently, look elsewhere and save yourself the hassle! Be prepared for lengthy disputes, poor communication, and having to escalate matters to the Rental Housing Tribunal just to recover your deposit.
