Signed up for an Iburst account in Jan 2010 for 2 years. Initial broadband speeds where around 500-600kb/s (I have 100% signal strength and direct line of site to the tower). Over the last 6 or so months, since the package increases have been implemented, my throughput has been reduced to a trickle...averaging around 50kb/s at a push. My current 25gb package that I'm on has no hope of ever utilising that bandwidth in a month. On top of that if I chose to downgrade the service to a smaller package...they want to hit you with a ridicolous 'downgrade fee'. After my 2 years was up, I just requested Iburst to cancel my account. Giving a month's notice now ( 3 Feb 2012) entails a roll over of their billing cycle so I have to pay up until the end of March 2012. Just the final milking of previously happy customer for a non-existent service. I strongly advise anyone considering Iburst to avoid them like the plague. |
