Over a year ago I was in Pretoria East and applied to Iburst for a internet connection via modem. I completed the deal before receiving the final contract as per their admin process. Iburst did not ever state that they only provided coverage in the major city centres and took no responsibility for other areas. This was apparently detailed in the fine print of the contract. I assumed that they had national coverage as per any other service provider. I did not know that I would move to a new job in the Western Cape within a few months. At no time did the consultant I dealt with indicate that I was purchasing a product with limited use. In Cape Town I discovered no reception in Fish Hoek/Simons Town where I lived. I have paid for this contract since Jan2011 without being able to use it. Iburst is guilty of unfair practice and is lying to their public. They are earning money for a product that does not provide the service promised. They indicated in Jan2011 that they would potentially connect with another provider to service my area. This was a lie. I want a refund for a year's fees @ R257 per month and to be released without prejudice from the rest of the contract. |
