On the 1st of Feb 2012 the Gautrain Bus Service came to stand still because of yet another "illegal" strike. Many commuters need both the Train and Bus services to operate in order to use the system. These commuters face losses because of Gautrains inability to resolve the bus problem as well as their don't care attitude towards the expiry of passes. The quote below was taken from their Facebook page - it is their response to the issue of refunds: "... answer is no, as a period product does not include a bus fare within it's package. However, due to the nature of people such as yourself using the bus as an integral part of one's daily commute we are considering the facilitation of change. This topic has been brought to light with everyones postings on this page. Currently there is no final consensus regarding refunds because of the lack of a bus service. It may be disputed in totality or refunds done on merit. Shall keep you informed on the outcome." It is clear that there is no commitment from their side to refund commuters or at least extend the period of the passes. In the meantime commuters must use their own vehicles again or use taxis or cabs at own expense. |
