The buses are on strike, so I enjoy the Gautrain and use it to get to work from Centurion to Marshall Street Johannesburg. Monthly train ticket purchased and away we go for a smooth ride. But oh the buses are on strike, staff at Rosebank cannot tell us where to catch alternative transport only if you go down the road, you will see people milling and you can catch a mini cab taxi (i think NOT), or pay a cab R80-00 to get into a sedan taxi (that is ok if it is not from your pocket...but it hurts when it is from the poor commuter). Then the famous METRO bus, we have to flag it down and we are lucky if it stops, from RB not so bad if you catch the bus that comes directly to Ghandi Square and does not go via Hillbrow as this ride could take about an hour to get to Ghandi Square. My issue is that I have had to come in with my car once again and loose on my trips on the train. But oops sorry pass the buck it is the buses fault, but we top up at the gautrain stations pay points to pay for the bus trips. This is really not fair - we should be able to extend our trips especially over the days that there are no gautrain buses.....I am very fed up!!!! |
