First new car buy turns into a nightmare |
Soon after taking possession of a new Ford Figo on 28 July 2011, It came to my attention that the petrol meter of the car is faulty, that the doors do not seal properly and that the rear number plate was poorly fitted. I started to note the fuel consumption of the vehicle manually, and it became apparent that the fuel consumption of the vehicle is much higher than what was promoted to me, between 11 and 12 km/l. It took a couple of phone calls and e-mail correspondence from my side to arrange to have the vehicle booked for repair. After my vehicle was booked with them twice, the problems I had still existed. On the last booking, I went to Ford to collect my car; I found my vehicle in the parking lot, unlocked. The driver's door stood open and was unable to close. The right front mudguard was also damaged. I have not had the use of my car since September 15, when I met with the DP to try and resolve the issue. He refused to refund me, and was only willing to exchange the car if I paid AA rate for mileage I put on the sub-standard model they sold me, Which would have amounted to over R12 000 since the car had roughly 3 000kms on it.
