Whilst at Nelson Mandela Square last night, I received a phone call from Europcar chauffer Elijah Monyela, telling me that he had picked up my wallet, which I had not realised was missing. It fell out of my pocket whilst walking past the Gautrain station. Elijah spotted it from his car, lying on the pavement, just as a pedestrian picked it up. Elijah took it from the pedestrian and found one of my business cards inside. He called me to find out where I was and returned the wallet to me, intact, within 10 minutes. I shudder to think of the trouble that may have resulted had Elijah not spotted the pedestrian picking it up. Elijah should be commended for his honesty, integrity, sharp eyes and willingness to assist a stranger who was not even a Europcar customer. Thank you Elijah! |
