1) I have been a member of Essential Med from 01/07/2010 and NEVER has any of my medical expenses been paid by Essential Med and that after I have called to confirm what Care Cross provider I can use and it was confirmed on the telephone by Essential Med staff that I can go to the doctor and the bill will be paid 2)The 1st membership card issued to me clearly indicates "Day1 Health" 3)The 2nd membership card issued indicates "Balance Hospital cover only" 4)I have never received a phone call or made a phone call to change the plan. But this was done without my knowledge and a new membership card was issued. Now who is to blame? 5)Essential Med is the most useless, pathetic company I have ever dealt with. 6)After 18 months of making payments calculating to almost R6000.00, Essential Med refused to pay the amount of R884.00 to the Care Cross doctor they suggested. And after they made a mistake with the different plans. |

Hello PMJC, The operator was correct in advising you that the consultation and medication would be covered if you visited a Care Cross provider. Your application, however, was for our Hospital Plan only and you are thus not able to claim against the benefits provided on our Day-to-Day Benefit option. We can further confirm that we have not in any way changed your policy option - you applied for hospital cover only and this has been provided to date. The change in product name is as a result of changes with our corporate identity and marketing strategies and does not affect your benefits or premium in any way, as was communicated via an electronic notice to policyholders and also on our website when the rebranding was implemented.
