| I was burgled 16/1/2012. The ******* got away with only my rings. 5 in total. I submitted a claim to DD. i was requested to provide proof of ownership or a quote for replacement - which I did. Luckily I found a certificate on only one ring as the other were inheritance pieces and a wedding ring that was altered. Petro then informed me that only the ring with the validation would be replaced at Arthur Kaplan (one of their suppliers) at a discounted price of R3k. This after the total value of the replacements were quoted to R40k and the replacement value on this particular piece were R21k ( My husband bought it for R7k). This was ludicrous! I indicated to Mr. Jan vd Belt after he contacted me that I have studied my t's & c"s and it clearly states DD MAY ask for proof of ownership - they did not specify on jewellery they are definitely going to ask for it. Through my outburst Petro was very professional. Jan is n very good listener and immediately considered my argument valid. the claim was paid out the same day and DD made me feel like not only a policy number, but like a person. I can never replace my sentiment but at least I can replace two of the five pieces lost. Thank you DD | |||
