On 31/10/2008 I fell from the first floor of a building where I work and sustained serious injuries. The employer then terminate my contract and was found by the Bargaining Council as procedurally and substantively unfair. The accident was immediately reported to the Dept. of Labour, Somerset-West. Up till today I was not able to get any response from the Dept. of Labour. Not only did I lose my ability to earn a income, but was liable for all my medical expenses. If that's not enough, I have paid attorneys more than R4000.00 to correspond with the Department, but they were also unable to get any reply from the Department. Except for all the above expenses I have phoned them about hundred times, sent letters to the relevant Departments, wrote to the Director General, wrote to the Minister, Oliphant and visited their Regional office in Cape Town three times. I DO NOT GET ANY REPLY OR ANY CORRESPONDENCE FROM THEM. Please help me as I am financially ruined in the process and do not know where to go for help. According to legal advice I am not allowed to claim from the employer but only from the Compensation Fund. Thank you. |
